Yongnuo YN450 Smart Camera Overview

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Yongnuo, a perfect companion for photography students, made another great product unlike any other. Yongnuo is not a flagship photography equipment manufacturer by any means, but they make good, sometimes great affordable products. Today at CES 2019, I stopped by their booth and tried their new smart camera.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Specifications

YN450 features Panasonic’s micro four third sensor with canon EF lens mount. This means, image quality you’re getting is if not better, equivalent to Panasonic’s micro 3/4 mirrorless camera. In addition, unlike any other cameras, you have an option to have 4G LTE and have fully functional “phone” features. It’s super light weight, has full manual control, and shoots RAW (DNG). It is literally a smartphone with micro 3/4 sensor on it.

  • Canon EF Mount
  • 5 inch 1080p screen
  • Built-in dual LED flash light

Autofocus

Based on quick onsite test shooting at the booth, autofocus was fast and snappy, just don’t expect canon or Nikons level of quickness. It felt it was enough for street photography, but not quite sure for super fast sport photography. During low light situation, it did hunt a bit, but any areas with high contrast were focused with pin point accuracy.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”15206″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

My Thoughts

You may ask how funky this smart camera looks like, but it works effortlessly. It feels just like any other mirrorless point and shoot camera with respectable autofocus, and interchangeable lens mount is a plus. I’m quite not sure how long the battery will last in the real world applications. It does have 4000mA battery, which should be more than enough for most people.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”15207″ img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Yongnuo YN450 will be available for $350, and international version should be available somewhere around June 2019. Overall, it was a great camera. It wouldn’t be something you would use for in studio or high end portraits; however, for those who need a camera for every day blogging, or just need a camera better than your phone, this is a perfect choice.
